EXCLUSIVE: Another big streamer sale of the finished movie! Paramount+ and Showtime win an auction for the US rights queenpins, STXFilms comedy starring Kristen Bell, Kirby Howell Baptiste, Paul Walter Hauser, Vince Vaughn, Bebe Rexha, Deyo Okney, Joel McHale, Nick Cassavetes, Jack McBrayer and Annie Mumolo. With streamers like Hulu in the bid, Paramount+ and Showtime won with a deal north of $20 million. This is a healthy profit on the budget.
Directed and written by Aaron Gaudet and Geeta Pulapilli, and inspired by a true story, queenpins follows a suburban housewife (Bell), fed up with being dismissed and ignored by her husband and society, who decides to take back control of her life by starting an illegal coupon club. His creation scams big food companies out of millions of dollars while distributing deals to millions of fellow coupon clippers.
STXfilms will first distribute the film theatrically, and will distribute internationally through its global partners and end international sales in the upcoming Cannes market.
The film is produced by AGC Studios, Marquee Entertainment and Red Hour Films. AGC’s Linda McDonough is producing with Red Hour’s Nikki Weinstock. AGC Studios president Stuart Ford and Miguel A. Palos, Jr. is executive producer with Red Hour’s Ben Stiller and Breen Solberg. The project was developed by McDonough under his Marquee Entertainment banner before joining AGC.
