Here’s how to get the feature

Here is the gist of the article in video form:

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

The original story (published May 04, 2021) reads:

Not long ago, using phones at night or in dimly lit rooms used to be a pain as our eyes had to bear the brunt of the strong light that permeated through the screens of our phones and laptops.

This was, and still is, in some cases, as apps and websites only offered a white/light background or theme.

Fortunately, most developers have introduced a dark mode in their apps that lets users rest their eyes in low-light situations.

Snapchat was one of the last social media apps to implement dark mode and it is currently only available on the iOS application. More details here.

Snapchat Inc. hasn’t shared any details about the availability of Dark Mode on its Android app, which means users will have to wait indefinitely to get a simple feature like Dark Mode, at least officially.

Why did we specifically mention ‘officially’? This is because unofficially there are few ways to get dark mode in Snapchat app on Android.

So without any further ado, let’s see how you can get dark mode in the Snapchat app on your Android smartphone.

How to Enable Dark Mode in Snapchat on Android

base: If you’ve tried tinkering with your Android smartphone in the past, you’ve probably used Substratum or at least heard of this theme engine.

Substratum lets you theme your device’s UI as well as third-party apps. Of course, you’ll need a rooted device for this to work and you may even need to purchase a theme like Flux.

Force Dark Mode: Some OEMs like Realme offer the option of Force Dark Mode in their skin. This allows users to force certain apps to use dark mode even if they don’t officially support it.

Just search for Dark Mode in the Settings menu on your Android smartphone and then find the option that says something like ‘Dark Mode for Third-Party Apps’ or ‘Force Enable Dark Mode’.

Alternatively, you can also force dark mode on some apps through developer options.

First, tap on Settings > About phone > Build number until you see a message something like ‘Developer options unlocked’.

Now open Developer Options via the Settings menu and then toggle on the Force Dark Mode option.

Dark App: Users who have devices running Android 10 can install the DarQ application to enable per-app dark mode. Luckily, you don’t even need a rooted device. However, you’ll need access to a computer to pass certain commands to get the DarQ app on your phone to work.

You can watch this tutorial to set up DarQ on your Android phone:

That said, these are the best ways you can get dark mode in the Snapchat app on your Android phone.

None of these ‘workarounds’ will give perfect results, but it’s worth trying until the official dark mode arrives.

Update 1 (May 06)

As per reports, another tweak that can be used to get Snapchat dark mode is to install the Preferences Manager app. After installing the app, select Snapchat on the home page of the app and then open APP_START_EXPERIMENT_PREFS.xml file.

then “find”DARK_MODEset it to “flag”Capable.” That’s all

Update 2 (08 May)

The Dark Mode app on the Google Play Store is another option that can be used to enable the feature, as shared by a user in the following video:

Update 3 (July 7)

Months have passed since Snapchat first introduced the Dark Mode for iOS app, however, Android users are still in the dark (pardon the pun) about the feature’s availability.

The Snapchat beta app for Android picked up a new update on July 6th (version, but there’s still no sign of the dark theme we’ve all been waiting for.
