Italy’s labor minister plans to call for stricter rules governing the “gig economy” when his country hosts a Group of 20 meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday in Sicily, Reuters reported. The meeting will be attended by government leaders overseeing the labor of G20 members, which include the US and Canada, among others from the world’s largest economies. “We will focus on some of the key issues such as gender equality in the labor market, the impact of new technologies on employment and economic systems, the expansion of social protection tools to address pre-existing inequalities and those worsened by the pandemic,” Italy’s Labor Secretary Andrea Orlando said in a separate statement.
